Garden & Cooking

Overview

When you think about combining the charm of fresh produce with the art of cooking, the perfect place that comes to mind might be a hidden gem like Garden & Cooking, located at Chem. Marc Charrot 2 in the peaceful area of 1228 Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland. This quaint little spot stands out not only for its inviting atmosphere but also for its commitment to providing high-quality meals made with the freshest ingredients, all sourced from their own garden.

This delightful restaurant doesn't just serve food; it offers an experience that blends the beauty of nature with the creativity of the kitchen. Upon stepping inside, you’re immediately greeted with a warm, rustic vibe. The owners have put immense thought into the design, making sure that every element of the space complements the fresh, garden-to-table approach that they pride themselves on. It’s easy to forget you’re in the heart of Switzerland as you take in the stunning surroundings, with plants and herbs growing right outside, influencing everything on the menu.

The culinary approach at Garden & Cooking is based on a farm-to-table philosophy, where everything from the leafy greens to the herbs is grown onsite. The menu changes with the seasons, so every visit offers a new array of dishes that reflect the time of year. The chefs have perfected the art of using local ingredients, ensuring that each dish not only supports the local economy but also provides the most flavor-packed experience possible.

For instance, during the summer months, you’ll find vibrant dishes showcasing tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers all grown on-site. In the cooler months, they serve up heartwarming stews and soups, made with root vegetables and greens that have been lovingly cultivated right outside the door. Every dish on the menu reflects the dedication to sustainable practices and the joy of eating food that is both nutritious and delicious.

What sets Garden & Cooking apart from other dining spots is their emphasis on the simplicity and authenticity of their ingredients. The dishes are straightforward yet refined, allowing the natural flavors of the produce to shine through. One standout dish is their roasted vegetable medley, which features the garden’s seasonal bounty. The vegetables are roasted to perfection, and the addition of freshly picked herbs from the garden elevates the dish to a whole new level of flavor. It’s this combination of fresh, simple ingredients and expert cooking techniques that makes dining here such a pleasure.

The restaurant also offers a variety of culinary workshops where guests can learn how to recreate some of the dishes themselves. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to improve their cooking skills or simply gain a deeper understanding of how to work with fresh, garden-grown ingredients. The workshops are led by the chefs themselves, who share their knowledge on everything from herb gardening to the art of seasoning. It’s a fantastic way to take home more than just a meal but also the skills to bring some of the magic of Garden & Cooking into your own kitchen.

It’s also worth mentioning the customer service at Garden & Cooking. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, providing guests with an experience that feels personal and welcoming. They take the time to explain each dish, offering recommendations based on your preferences, ensuring that every meal is a memorable one. This attention to detail is one of the reasons why so many guests return time and time again.

If you're in the area, Garden & Cooking is definitely worth the visit. Whether you're looking for a relaxed lunch with friends, a cozy dinner with family, or even a unique culinary experience through their workshops, this restaurant offers something for everyone. With its focus on fresh, garden-grown ingredients and its commitment to sustainable practices, it’s a place where you can enjoy food that is as good for you as it is for the planet.

I visited this restaurant twice for work events with a large group. The service was friendly on both occasions, and the team handled our group size smoothly. The food was of decent quality given the scale of the events, though it was not particularly exceptional. The warm and cozy atmosphere made the experience enjoyable and well suited for group gatherings.

I absolutely love this place. The staff goes above and beyond, is so welcoming and accommodating. I feel like coming home every time I get here. Today Clara looked after me and was absolutely amazing, but really everyone of the team is. The food is delicious. The setting is beautiful (especially the outside space) and it's a great experience coming here any time of day. There even is a little playground for kids, a nice bar in the garden and good music.

It was a friend's wedding and they served more likely "tapas" that's what you called in spanish, the food was very tasty and it was gone in just a minute.. Variety of beverages, they served us rosé, white wine, champange, mojito, sangria, etc. The staffs were very friendly they even danced with us at the end of the night.
